Services · Consulting
IT and network consulting.
Straight answers and a clear plan for networks, infrastructure and business systems, from someone with 26 years in the industry. Based in Northern Ontario, available across Canada, remotely or on-site.
What you get
Advice from the person who would do the work.
Network design
Networks designed to fit.
Wired, wireless and wide-area networks planned around the building, the budget and what rides on them: routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs, over copper, wireless or fibre.
Reviews
Reviews and second opinions.
A close look at an existing setup, or at someone else’s proposal, with a summary of what is sound, what is risky and what to do first.
Planning
Scope it before you buy.
A clear brief for a Wi-Fi, camera, access control, cabling or hosting project, so contractors can quote against the same brief.
Documentation
Write down what you have.
Network diagrams, equipment and address lists, and how-to notes for your existing setup, so it is easier for you, or the next person, to pick up.
Business systems
ERP, CRM, point-of-sale and SaaS.
Consultation on selecting, integrating and training people on business platforms, including the workstations, servers and virtualization (Windows and Linux) underneath them.
Infrastructure
Hosting and servers.
Advice on servers, virtualization, backups, email and where to host, drawn from running our own production platform in Canada.

Questions
Common questions.
Is consulting remote or on-site?
Either. Most reviews and planning can be done remotely, wherever you are in Canada. For on-site work we can walk the site with you, in our local area or farther afield by arrangement.
Do you also do the work?
Yes, if you want us to. You are also free to take the plan to someone else.
Can you document a network we already have?
Yes. We map what is there and write it up, so you have a record that someone else can pick up.
Can you act as a second opinion for our IT provider?
Yes. We can review a proposal or a setup and tell you what we see. Some IT companies also bring us in on their projects; see For IT Companies & MSPs.
What does it cost?
It depends on the scope. Tell us what you need and we will send a written quote.
